pull of the moon: Reviews
Heffler’s voice is a delight of mellow control and expression, warm with vibrato, perfectly suited to her style. A truly lovely, unintrusive album that could become a steady friend.

With its intelligent lyrics and amiable phrasing, subtle bossa nova rhythm and cool chord changes, “Pull of the Moon” pays homage to Steely Dan. One of the best tracks is Leon Russell’s “A Song for You”, which highlghts her sonorous and soulful lower register.

Carol’s voice is lightly jazzy, classical, and rhythmic. She basically glides through each number with ease. Her vocal range is good and she knows just how much to stretch without breaking. At times, one can’t help but hear Karen Carpenter in the vocals on “A Song for You”, a tune written by Leon Russell. All in all, this is a very listenable CD. Carol is obviously well-trained, has studied, and knows her craft.”
